Ministerial Support Officer

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is the Australian Government agency responsible for supporting and investing in sport, and comprises of Sport Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).From grassroots right up to the pinnacle of elite international competition, the ASC works together with the sport sector, other government partners, business and the wider community to champion the role sport can play in engaging every Australian regardless of age, race, gender, cultural background and physical ability.The Ministerial & Government team plays an important role in the delivery of high quality and timely government materials and parliamentary services for the ASC.We are looking for someone who is dynamic, proactive, highly organised with strong written and collaboration skills to join our Ministerial & Government team for 12 months. Supporting the Assistant Director, the Ministerial Support Officer’s key responsibilities will include:Support the Assistant Director to develop, coordinate and quality assure government documents including briefs, submissions and correspondence, as well as advice and other information from within the ASC and requests from the Department of Health and Minister for Sport’s Office.Actively participate in the development and implementation of policies, guidelines and other resources that deliver business outcomes for the ASC.Under guidance of the Assistant Director, engage and collaborate with ASC staff to provide advice, support and resources as required.Assist in the delivery of quality advice and reporting on relevant issues to senior management.To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate your commitment to supporting a positive team culture and developing strong client relationships with additional capabilities including:Experience in government roles, ministerial and parliamentary services, policy and/or program management.Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in sport, business, policy, planning or a related field.Proven ability to effectively work in a complex environment, adhere to tight timeframes and manage stakeholder relationships.Demonstrated capacity to provide timely, compelling and concise advice to support decision making.Demonstrated high quality of written work, analysis and execution of procedural tasks.Position is based in Canberra and will be available for a period of 12 months non-ongoing.For all Canberra based positions, the ASC requires the holder to have received two doses of a government approved COVID-19 vaccination and have obtained boosters where due.
