Lawyer

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) plays a central leadership role in the development and operations of the Australian sport sector and acts as the leading sports agency in Australia, building collaboration, alignment and effectiveness within the Australian sport sector. The ASC is a corporate Commonwealth entity and comprises Sport Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).   As a Lawyer in our Corporate Division, you will provide legal advice and assistance on a wide variety of matters relating to the operation of the ASC in support of the Corporate Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel.  In particular, you will provide legal advice relating to commercial legal issues in a government context, including contracts, procurement, grants and corporate governance. The role will require you to work independently and would suit a lawyer with at least 3 years PQE in a private firm or government agency. We will consider a fixed term secondment from another Commonwealth entity.The position is based in Canberra.An order of merit may be used to fill other opportunities, including longer term contracts or ongoing vacancies should the opportunity arise within 12 months from the role being advertised.Salary range = $110,083 - $129,897 (effective 1 December 2021) per annum + up to 15.4% superannuation.Please note the ASC operates under the Australian Sports Commission Act 1989 and is separate to the Australian Public Service terms and conditions of employment.
