In addition to providing funding, Sport Australia is focused on improving the capability of sporting organisations to create an effective and sustainable national sport sector.What we wantAs the Director you will have strategic and operational responsibility for the delivery of Sport Australia’s flagship participation program – Sporting Schools. You will manage a diverse team to deliver a highly effective program while continuing to consider ways in which the program’s impact can be enhanced. The successful applicant will have significant experience in program delivery, program innovation and stakeholder management.What the applicant needsDegree and demonstrated management level experience in Business, Sport or a related field Experience working in management in the Education sector or Game Development at a national sporting organisationDemonstrated success/experience in delivering a major Commonwealth/State grant programDemonstrated understandingof key trends and issues facing the sector and ability to anticipate future challenges to create long range competitive strategies and plansExperience in successfully managing a diverse team, including demonstrated success in achieving team and project objectives and cohesion in line with a strategic direction.Demonstrated capacity to provide timely, compelling and concise advice to inform executive members and senior management to support decision making. Demonstrated high level experience in managing financial resources, risk management, business planning and strategy development.Experience delivering cultural change through influence and using innovative techniques.The role will be based in Canberra and the current vacancy is for an initial period to December 2022, with the potential for extension.To be eligible for employment with the Australian Sports Commission, it is preferred that applicants are an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia. Note, that an order of merit may be used to fill other opportunities, including longer term contracts or ongoing vacancies, should the opportunity arise within 12 months from the role being advertisedSalary range = $134,222 - $163,447 per annum + up to 15.4% superannuation.Please note the ASC operates under The Australian Sports Commission Act 1989 and is separate to the Australian Public Service terms and conditions of employment.
