Assistant Director, Ministerial & Government

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is the Australian Government agency responsible for supporting and investing in sport. From grassroots right up to the pinnacle of elite international competition, we work together with the sport industry and the wider community to champion the role sport can play in engaging every Australian regardless of age, race, gender, cultural background and physical ability. Our vision is to be the world most active sporting nation, known for its integrity, sporting success and world leading sports industry. The Ministerial & Government team manages and facilitates the delivery of high quality, timely parliamentary services, ministerial materials, and official communications for the ASC and provides expert advice to the ASC Executive and staff on all aspects of engagement with the Minister for Sport’s Office, Department of Health, other Commonwealth agencies and State and Territory Governments. In collaboration with the Director your key responsibilities will include:  Managing incoming/outgoing information flows through to the Department of Health, and correspondence and briefing processes for the Minister for Sport and ASC Executive. Drafting, reviewing and the quality assurance of briefs, submissions, new policy proposals and correspondence.  Developing and implementing policies, guidelines and training materials on ministerial processes, practices, and preferences; and delivering education and training to support ASC staff.  Identifying opportunities for, and implementing, continuous system and process improvements to enable more streamlined service offerings while modernising existing work practices. Coaching staff across the section, and broader division, to build capability, capacity, and consistency in the development of ministerial materials. To be successful you will demonstrate a commitment to supporting a culture that attracts and retains people, builds capability and drives engagement.
